You gotta be a real goru to casually beat a lie detector. Most people game it by just being vague and quick when answering. That works fur the court system but a person could tell your trying to fluff with the test.

My mom works as a nurse in a jail and the point of the lie detector isn't to spot a lie but make you contradict yourself. If you're vague and don't think through your questions, you will eventually spin a lie and trip yourself up which makes you fail the test.
