I want to start drawing but i know literally nothing and have no experience. Stickmen is genuinely the best i can do, i never drew anything more advanced, drawing was just something i never did at any point. I thought i might be able to start by tracing existing artwork and replacing some of the original details with my own but whenever i made any noticable change it looked blatantly out of place. So i thought of just making random sloppy sketches from scratch to avoid that only to have them look like an actual 5 year old drew them (i am not making shit up when i say stickmen is the best i can do). I’m looking up tutorials and asking chatgpt about it but i still don’t know where to start. Now this might just be because i’m using my finger on my phone as opposed to my PC (no drawing utilities, just mouse) or paper because i don’t want my parents or brother to bust in and see what i’m doing. I feel like that might not be a good way to start, if i even knew how to. Thoughts?

I never watched or read a tutorial in my life. The best way to learn is to just draw. Everyone starts out bad, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't look perfect right away. Also never trace.

Is it okay to trace backgrounds/vehicles if I’m using it as a base?

Preferably no because all you learn from tracing is how to trace

>no tutorial
how do you practice doe
We have these threads every week and the answer is always just draw, whether it with a pencil or paper or digital with a mouse. Not reading all that btw, if you want to get into digital but don't have a drawing tablet use the line tool to draw segments

By drawing more

What >>56034 said. Drawing itself is practice. Doing stupid stuff like drawing circles a million times is boring.

I fear not the man who drew 1000 times but the man who drew the circle 1000 times

As all the other anons has said, just keep drawing, you can just draw the things you like, which can be like a comic or manga panel, or maybe even a show, that's how I do my drawing practices. just draw what you like, and you'll see a bit of improvement in your drawing, and maybe then, you can pick up drawing lessons, I learn most of it on YouTube.
