I do know that it’s better to start now than never. 

I just wanted to know what tropes to avoid writing and such. Or, at least, how I could write the characters to not be some self-serving fantasy for the reader.

Not an expert but meaningful flaws and hardships, some fantasy is good as you want the reader to be understand and find the character interesting but it shouldn’t come at the story’s expense.

To be honest, I don’t know how I can write a whole ass romantic story to be short. I mean, romantic needs a lot of length to be believable and such.
