I may sound like a retard fur agreeing with them, but they do kinda have a point. If you want art, you can either pay fur it or learn to draw yourself. "But learning to draw is so much effurt!" yeah thats probably why it costs so much lol
I don't think I'd ever do commissions myself but if I were to, no shit I would charge as much as I could get away with, that's how a business works

That being said, most artists who take commissions are insufferable lazy losers. The amount of times I've heard of commissioners having to wait like 3 months or more fur their art to be finished is insane, a week maximum is what I would expect. And now with that AI drama recently on Twitter, a bunch of artists are trying to have "TOS"'s that make it so you don't own the art you commission lol. What a bunch of assholes, if they would just shut the fluff up and stop being so smug and annoying most people wouldn't care if they charged a lot

Counterpoint: being a construction worker is also hard, and actually even more difficult since you exert yourself physically. They get paid minimum wage or barely more, so why should artists be paid a lot? Their skill is just like any other job skill, and they don't have to lift heavy objects

I could see why you might find it unfair that a furry artist on Twitter could make more than a construction worker, but just because a job is difficult, that doesn't mean it pays a lot. That's just capitalism or whatever. I mean, CEO's make thousands of times more money than their workers, they aren't working thousands of times more, aren't they? 

And to be fair, the vast majority of artists who take commissions do not make more than construction workers. Google says the average pay fur a construction worker is in the low $20's per hour, an artist would need to take $140 worth of comms every single day, which I really doubt they do. That's why so many of them are always begging fur money on Twitter, "help pay fur my sugery! help me move out of my parents house! help pay my bills while I ghost my clients!" lol 

Any construction worker is free to attempt to become an artist if they think it would be a better job. I'm not saying being an artist is hard, but it does take at least a few years of learning befure you're good enough to actually make money

I think the real question is what justifies the price tag in the first place.

You might think it’s because of its quality but that’s usually subjective. You could have a mspaint doodle and a whole ass oil painting be set at the same high price and both artists would argue that they set the price that way in order to have a livable wage. 

So, do the prices need to be this way? It’s not they are selling any stock or anything. Most business have to pay fur supplies to make the product and set the price to where they can make a product over the cost of producing it. Digital artists don’t go through that process. All they need is time and skill to produce the art.
