Do you separate art from the artist?

Truke: if fiddle never said what she did then 95% of people here wouldn't give a shit about her, and averi sure as fluff wasn't going to get popular on 4chan or the sharty if she wasn't known as the racism fox. There are a million cute fox furry characters, but averi just so happens to be cute and associated with racism

Knowing more about the artist can add more depth to their creations. It's probably best to focus on the positives without getting hung up on the negatives though.
—Based artist with good art → enjoy + like/share/subscribe/commission/promote/praise.
—Cringe artist with good art → enjoy, just maybe not promote the artist if they're downright repulsive?

In Fiddle's case, she and her character (cute&recognizable, but not truly unique; mid humor) are elevated to a martyr and a symbol, arguably leaving behind a greater legacy than just another art blog would have.

Yes, but anfoo only likes Averi so much because she, as a fictional figure, affirmed them in their own biased worldviews

Art without the artist is meaningless, and any framing which tries to separate the two is folly or cowardice.

You misspelled "based."

I specifically remember posting averi on /v/ and /qa/ befure she was outed as a chudtinxette and no one cared. No one thought she was cute or even bothered replying to my posts. It was only after the artist got cancelled from twitter did where people on 4chan suddenly like her and "always did". I am the true actual averi fan hipster. All of those 2021 averi threads on /qa/ were from me.

It does stand to reason that as a character becomes more popular more people are likely to react to seeing it.
Board populations have changed a bit since then but I wonder what would happen if you were to repeat the experiment with some cool but relatively unknown character. Would the reaction be different?
From limited personal experience, people don't react to pics often, unless they are the focus of the thread. Say, 1/5 times someone comments on the image, 1/50 times they request a source and 4/5 times there's no reaction (no replies or people address the points raised in the text ignoring the image).
Being associated with racism has surely improved her standings among the shes-just-like-me crowd, but the continuous posting itself must have contributed as well, causing her to percolate into the board culture to an extent. Tourist shows up, sees fox, thinks she's like one of them pepes, possibly adopts fox.
