In the strictest sense they are not the same thing because "hobby" means you aren't making money off of it. You can, however, get a job you enjoy. 
You also seem to have the idea that you need to make $0 off of something or work 40 hours a week and there exists nothing in between. You shouldn't quit your full time job fur furry porn. But if you're making furry art, have a presence, and aren't at least making some amount of money, you're simply wasting your time
