What happens to commission artists when they turn 30?

It's more of a recent occupation and I'm curious if there are any success stories.

Glass houses
I know a furry artist who's perpetually poor and has to ebeg every month fur rent and bill money. He's been a furry artist fur over 10 years and is in his 30s now. He has mentioned how he's kind of stuck because drawing big furry butts isn't really a transferrable skill to any career. Any self employed job like furry artist is really risky tbh, unless you're in the 1% of the 1% and of income from it, it's just something that should be done on the side while you're working a real job
