Am I paranoid for trying to avoid having any online presence besides stuff like YouTube comments and discord chatting (if they count as online presence) and wanting to have my small blog and YT channel as my only online presence? I even avoid sharing my discord ID left and right because of stalkers, doxxers, spammers, harassers, trolls etc.

Keep in mind that I used to be regular, active member at many different forums, social media, sites etc but I gave up with them since it's so fucking tiresome and meaningless, especially with the current state of the internet.

I wouldn't call this paranoia, this seems like pretty standard opsec. In fact I would even say this is pretty lax on opsec. My online presence is pretty similar to yours but I won't even leave comments anymore.

In this digital age where almost everything you do online is archived or cached in some way, the best way to win is to not play at all. I still consider deleting the few online accounts I have currently.

The alternative would be to stop caring, rid yourself of everything which you stand to lose and post with the expectation that all of it will eventually being tied back to you.

>I still consider deleting the few online accounts I have currently.
OP here. I've deleted most online accounts I don't use anymore (at least the ones I'm aware having). And I even consider deleting my Instagram account (despite not using it except when I want to check 1-2 artists' accounts in rare occasions), my alt discord account and my alt twitter account.

Based. I should do the same too.

I have a steam account, a discord for talking to friends, and that's about it as far as public facing accounts go. I have a bit of privacy paranoia and prefer to rotate emails for accounts and such but that may be overkill.

I don't think it's paranoid to want privacy in an age of increasing surveillance
>>2951
Honestly if that's all you use Instagram for I wouldn't give it too much thought. My only concern there would be if you had used real personal info when signing up such as a personal email or phone number.
Alt accounts are good for anonymity but at the end of the day they're just more accounts that can be tied to you.
>>2952
Most social media apps have a feature where you can actually see every comment you've ever posted and you can delete them all manually. Youtube had it at one point but I can't see to find it anymore.
Replies: >>2955 >>2962
>>2954
It should still have it, somebody made a script to mass-delete comments but it's not very fast or reliable.
You can make any given identity you want as doxxable as you want. What matters is how much of a target said identity is. For example, I could go on Google Maps right now and pick any random address and proclaim that I've "doxxed" that random person, or stalk someone random on the street, follow them home, and, boom, I have their address. But there isn't much of a motive for me to do anything with said addresses/info because they're just random people who have never done anything warranting or inviting hostility from me.
<nigger space
So if you have, let's say, a cooking channel that you're 100% confident is unlikely to cause people to want to dox you in the first place, you can put your real name front and center (a lot of YouTube personalities do this). The main issue is when your identity is "controversial" for whatever reason or you can foresee one of your identities "going sour" & giving a cause for doxxing. In those cases, you want to put as much of a gap as possible between said identities and any that tie to your real one. However, there's nothing wrong with being "paranoid" even with your safe identities since it's sometimes an imperceptible slip-up or something you would never have guessed that leads back to your real identity. For example, if by some extreme bad luck your IPs get leaked for both a safe identity & an unsafe one in some data breach(es) & they happen to be the same & now everyone can see that, suspiciously, your two otherwise separate identities are tied to this same IP address. That's one of the few cases where a VPN actually would have "protected your privacy".

>My only concern there would be if you had used real personal info when signing up such as a personal email or phone number.
The only personal info stuff I did in the past was using my personal email for signing up at various sites. But now I avoid that and I use my alt email for that stuff.

>Alt accounts are good for anonymity but at the end of the day they're just more accounts that can be tied to you.
Pretty much. Which is why I want to delete them.

>>2956
>The main issue is when your identity is "controversial" for whatever reason
In the current year everything is "controversial". Like having a normal anonymous twitter account where you only do stuff like sharing screenshots from your favorite video games and wholesome fanarts you've made. Like it happens to many sfw artists (including teenage girls) that get harassed at social media for "using the wrong skin color" at certain video games characters. And I mean actual harassment like getting spammed with death threats.

Even friends of mine with barely any presence at the internet and zero "controversial" takes get doxxed just for having the "wrong hentai fetishes".

Terminally online schizos. Like the discord retards that will send you friend request just to continue their retarded online debates in DMs. And all that over the most retarded reasons. Like when I was in a discord group for anime and I called Nana "overrated" with everyone there acting like I've advocated for minorities' genocide and then banned me.

I really get this. One could say "just don't step on any toes and nobody will want to doxx you!" but that's pretty much impossible. There's too many psychotic weirdos on the internet, who will take everything personally and get offended over anything, not to sound like a boomer. This feels especially true for online artists, like the other anon mentioned how people will get harrassed for drawing the "wrong skin color". Does anyone here remember that Twitter user who got death threats because their white Animal Crossing character had a "black" hairstyle? You can't even talk about video games you like without pissing off these retards.
It really sucks, because I'd definitely like to be more social over the internet, but it's really hard to trust a lot of people when everything you say can end up being screenshotted and used as an excuse to doxx you and your family

I hate all this victim blaming bullshit. Like the centrist cucks that defend far left terrorists' and niggers' violence with excuses like "Just don't be provoking!". Yet when I call rape victims "provoking" for dressing and acting like sluts in public suddenly I am the bad guy and worse than the rapists themselves.

It's something you do in conjunction with each other. The best defense against doxing is not being someone worth doxing. The second best defense against doxing is good opsec. There's no reason to not practice both just in case

That's the thing now: They're so addicted with doxxing others that they now dox literally whom people who mind their own business. never enter their radar
never engage with those communities
never befriend or act kind to anyone from these groups

The problem is that as soon as you talk with anyone from there, or get involved in any way, you enter that part of the internet and unless you cut people off you're never leaving it. I saw it happen with many communities I was part of. You let in one guy who found kiwifarms yesterday and thinks he's the shit, he starts bringing up random drama, soon a sizable portion of the community is involved in whatever is happening that makes it unusable and unfun. The remedy is swift action and ruthless knee to the neck of any attempt to bring up 4chan, kiwifarms, soyjack, etc. We get, you say nigger and think you're the shit but please shut the fuck up and let me enjoy the internet in peace.

If I was a moderator anywhere, I'd honestly follow this site motto close of "no drama" unless it's actually relevant like a tech server discussing some major happening or controversy in the TECH space. No doxxing or harassement.

Nice GET. Now, once again, please explain this. I never had an account at Kiwi Farms or Something Awful. I have seen people get doxed. It has invariably come as a result of behaving like a belligerent lunatic online for an extended period of time. If someone does this long enough, someone else is indeed likely to find amusement in the idea of obtaining and posting his dox. If, on the other hand, we are talking about some random individual posting intermittently on an Internet discussion forum pertaining to prewar Siamese radio dramas, why would anyone care? 4chins is a site with enough notoriety to motivate a person or persons as yet unknown to dox Hiroshimoot's mod squad. It's happened to a number of individuals. The common thread, generally speaking, is that these are individuals with some degree of very negative notoriety, generally resulting from their own monomaniacal devotion to shitting in the punch bowl that is the Internet and not taking a hint, usually for years on end. There have been exceptions, but it's unusual.

Nothing about me or my life is interesting enough to anyone whatsoever for there to be any point in going to the trouble to obtain my personal information and post it. I am boring. I am nobody. Nobody could conceivably care. This is, I think, the norm for well-adjusted adults who use this vast and intricate series of TOOBS(tm) that is the Interwebs. There are certainly lots of cranks and kooks out there, lots of creeps and weirdos vastly more entertaining than I to seek out for such entertainment. There's never been a shortage of them. I have long laughed at them whenever they did things online I found amusing, sure. But I'm not one of them, nor am I a celebrity, nor am I an "influencer." I don't spend much time worried about a conspiracy that's out to get me, because I don't have Main Character Syndrome.

Just disagree with them and that's more than enough reason for these schizos to dox you even if they've previously agreed with other posts of yours.

Also don't expect logic to work with these retards. Especially when they pretend hating trannies and pedos while the forum's owner is also a pedo tranny but SOMEHOW they still defend and glorify him.
>>3000
Seems like he's both
>>3001
The present-day mean Kiwifarms users are radfem NPDEAitas and ethnically-ambiguous subpartyite Turkey Tom viewers, being neurodivergent and not affirming feminism are grounds for them to consider you a belligerent lunatic and stalk you while waiting for somebody to drop a dox (Charlie Kirk was killed for "spreading too much hate"). New threads can go on for days as the New KFers psyche each other up to dox the target before an oldfaggot steps in and reminds them that they're only supposed to hide in the shadows and point fingers, not SWAT and order pizzas. Normalfaggots and nobodies don't have much to fear, of course, but to not speak out against the mainstream internet being turned uninhabitable for anybody who doesn't habitually post GIFs of sassy/outraged niggers at any opportunity which presents itself is to be complacent in the process.
>The common thread, generally speaking, is that these are individuals with some degree of very negative notoriety, generally resulting from their own monomaniacal devotion to shitting in the punch bowl that is the Internet and not taking a hint
Low-functioning autists like CWC, KingCobra (haven't looked into anything about him until he died, but it seems to me like his only crime was being a sub-5 Male) and Daniel Larson get gangstalked for decades, but not a single one of the troonmod petty tyrants of the clearnet face any resistance even after conspiring to take their fucking website down. This meme of KF as capeshit vigilantes keeping the streets clean needs to fucking die.

Actual midwit take lmao, 10 seconds spent on determining if null, one of the most doxxed people on the internet, is a tranny let alone a pedo would've stopped your schizoposting. Idk why you brainlets act like KF is some impregnable fortress of solitude where all their secrets are thoroughly hidden, when any limp-dicked retard can make an account and go look to see what the fuck KF posters do all the time (spoiler alert, it's the same shit as every post about "HURRDURR HAS NE1 SEEN X RETARD B4?" And it's not even toxic furfags the ones they dox but harmless ones that mind their own business. Which is ironic since KiwiFarm fags are defending furry communities run by pedo zoophiles like furaffinity. And that was one of the reasons they decided to dox me: Because I pointed out the above fact about furaffinity when they ganged to dox and harass an autistic and cringe yet harmless furfag.
Yeah… I had some issues using some forums and other ‘sites too. Discord has too many bots, Xitter has a lot of drama, TikTok is filled with NPCs, 4chan is somehow becoming more mainstream. The alternatives aren’t really any better (shit like bluesky, Telegram, Reddit, etc. still suffers similar problems). I had even tried browsing alt-chans (4chan alternatives) and they still turned out to be shit sometimes (LeftyPol is just a bunch of Leftist fags who tried to be chuddy in a way, Sharty is filled with whining kids who will complain about anything, 8chan is just freaking weird af, 2chan is just too hard for me to browse because it’s speaks only Japanese when I only speak English, most other imageboards are either dead or filled with shit posts. Sometimes it’s just a better time to go outside to forget all your online problems

Your problem with Discord is the bots? The automated users for server management and low-level entertainment? First and foremost, you should ask yourself what you want from an online platform, because it seems to me like you don't even know yourself. If me listing a bunch of obscure online spaces might help, I'll go ahead and mention sofiechan, bioenergetic.forum, rpgcodex, minds eye mag + forum (mindseyemag.com), paradise hotel 51 forum, tunis bay club.

Look for "anthro" stuff, find a "furry" board, read any random thread that looks like it might be worthwhile and three posts in some troon is spamming shota cub porn and twenty more are goofing and going on about how badly they want to do inappropriate stuff with toddlers. Tech stuff, political stuff, military stuff, it's half bots and half wumao CHINA STRONK shills. Two thirds of the boards on either one haven't had a post in five or six years that wasn't a very suspicious-looking link that presumably goes to CP, but I ain't clicking on that shit, nyagga. 8moe and 8kun are one big dumpster fire.
