Wow! Some people suddenly pretend to hate Donkey Kong's look and personality he's been having since Donkey Kong Country just to defend his new, modern, inferior redesign.
Also Shigeru Miyamoto's excuse that they changed his look to make him more expressive sounds bullshit since his DKC was already quite expressive. While I often respect Miyamoto, sometimes he makes bullshit claims. Like when he claimed that he couldn't use his idea of Mario riding an animal at NES because of console's limitation while Hudson's Adventure Island games at NES managed to do that without an issue.
I bet they've changed him because his DKC look and persona is "too masculine and outdated for the current year" since current Nintendo tries pleasing investors.
Nintendo would be more honest if they admitted that they changed him to make him more marketable for merchandise like other Nintendo's popular franchises that focus a lot at merchandise.
And yeah, I hate Donkey Kong's change both at his look and personality. Maybe I could tolerate and get used to his look's change. But drastically changing his personality too to the worse? I can't accept that.
