Even back in the dialup days they were the most hated people on the Internet, and by a pretty wide margin, due to their habit of things like infiltrating and brigading non-furry-related forums, burying an online space that had been created to discuss cooking or photography or celebrity gossip under a foul-smelling mile-deep layer of faggy shitflinging contests about who stole whose diaper cub snuff fetish art and who stole whose clown-vomit-colored hermaphrodite unicorn-taur OC. They descended like locusts, destroying forum after forum, moving on when all the normies had given up and seeking out a new "space to destroy." ("It's not all of them, but it's always them.") People will now tell you "it was a meme" and "it was because of Something Awful," but no. The Goons were late to that particular party; they just noticed the bad behavior and poiinted it out. The hatred, furries accomplished all by themselves.
