From May 29th until June 3rd challenge yourself to create something everyday and share it with the 'foo! It can be art, writing, music, or game dev.

This will be our last draw-a-thon, so try to make something special and interact with others. After the draw-a-thon there will also be Magma.

Except that's not what he or any semi-skilled artist does. The head is not a circle. It can roughly be split into two sections. It's the same for anthros, though of course the snout is elongated compared to human jaws

>You shouldn't be using circles for the head shape, that's why
uh, i use circles too
>>113330
i use them, but that's only half the story. circles give me a general guide for the head, but i usually end up shaving parts off, or adding to it to make it more organic/skull shaped. spheres should give you an idea for orientation and where to put the snout and ears, but don't be bound to it
i think the issue with your heads, more on the left, is that it's too spherical. there needs to be more distinction for the eye sockets/brow ridge area. canine heads are fairly flat on the top. the eyes could also be a little lower and spaced further. for my fox eyes they sort of curve into the general "flow" of the snout. finally you don't need to be autistically realistic, but a general shape of the skull can help. a trick i used to use is drawing an upsidedown pentagon to help capture the shape of the skull that a lot of mammals have
your drawings of the heads actually look very similar to when i first started taking drawing seriously and drew furries. anatomy helped me out a lot, but i also copy a lot of other furry artists (just make sure you have good taste). you'll eventually get the hang of it (and then get complacent and never study like i do)
>>113331
i sometimes wonder if drawing a circle initially or drawing several segmented areas for the head is a better method, since i do the former

your time would be better spent studying (copying) heads from real life and/or other artists, rather than trying to conjure them up from thin air. drawing anything half decent from imagination, anthro heads included, takes many years of practice; i certainly can't do it myself.
usually i'll pull up a reference from x6ud.github.io and draw that as a base. after that, i'll modify it as needed to suit whatever drawing i had in mind. that's the point where using other artists as a reference can be useful, since you can shamelessly steal how they stylize their drawings to make your own look better without having to reinvent the wheel, e.g. stealing how they draw eyes, their expressions, etc.
occasionally, if there's a weird head angle that i cant find a picture reference for, i'll use a 3D skull model, draw it, and then try to build up an animal head from that

That's really fluffing cool. Thanks for sharing that site. I've previously photographed myself or taken stock photos and overlayed real life animal head photos on them, then traced over them with my mouse and adjusted and stylized. I was slowly compiling reference photos and AI-generating angles I couldn't find for key positions (front, front-quarter, profile, rear, rear-quarter, with low and high variants, etc.), then I'd attempt to interpolate in-between angles manually but that's where I hit a wall. I could probably have devised a method around that problem but I've also been busy & I wasn't quite satisfied with the stylization itself. However, it looks like this solves the former issue and tracing/drawing on physical medium solves the latter. Other solutions I was considering included buying generic animal head masks that I could pose with or using similarly generic base reference 3D models that could be posed in Blender. Combining the latter with pose estimation/motion capture would've possibly made the workflow very efficient and I'd still like to try that but it'd be more for 3D animation, not 2D. A technical project I'm currently working on should help towards that end.
Nice artstyle, by the way. It reminds me of an artist going by the name Wetchop.

Can I ask what your goals are when it comes to art? It's obvious you prefer a more realistic style, so I'm confused why you would look to femcelanon for inspiration in the first place when he has a more kemono/anime-esque style (obviously this is not a knock against him, just an observation). Just curious

>he has a more kemono/anime-esque style
I don't fully disagree, but Femcelanon is still really good at drawing ears and snouts, which in my opinion makes his characters feel a little more"realistic" than kemono, even if they're still a little anime-y

How do you pronounce her name? Is "Miami" a homophone?
>It's obvious you prefer a more realistic style, so... why [would you] look to femcelanon for inspiration... when he has a more kemono/anime-esque style?
im retar thats why
I guess you can describe his art as kemonoesque, though I get the impression that-- depending on who you ask-- some may even describe his art as simply kemono, full stop. I must admit I have a very limited understanding of the history and true meaning of that term. Whatever. Categorizations that broad frankly feel rather worthless to me and are more prone to cause fights than lead to any constructive discussion. That said, I don't really like most anthros to which this term is commonly applied, but Femcelanon's defy this in the same vein as Taracod's anthros. The biggest distinguishing characteristic probably being the snouts, lacking in most other cases. Anyways, the point being... what was I getting at?
The point being that I can appreciate less realistic styles too and in some cases-- depending on the purpose of the art-- that's exactly what's necessary to achieve the desired effect.
So I've fixated on his art for two reasons: (a) it is pleasing and (b) I noticed the geometry (in his sketches particularly) and how relatively simple and dissectable it looks and I figured I'd give it a shot and that I could learn from him. My current goal is illustrating my little story I'm writing and, as I mentioned, I hit a few obstacles with my previous technique which ultimately come down to the head-- that's the one thing I would benefit the most from actually learning to freehand. But I'll admit it is a little stimulating, a little fun insofar as I can feel that. I see it as a means to an end but it is somewhat enjoyable in itself.

The top profile is 100% freehanded. The lower is a return to my tracefaggotry (using a photo from x6ud.github.io), but on physical medium which I don't think I've done before. I saw African Wild Dog in the species list and knew immediately I wanted to try that since my rendition as an anthro was supposed to be like 5% African Wild Dog or whatever ev&o I didn't really even try to incorporate that. I'll give Femcelanon the honor of naming him, owing to his site-renowned racial sensitivity.

>The Kitsune - did I mention she does not even leave when he closes his eyes? - trots around infront of him, kneels with him... reaches a paw down... and, like always, when she touches his cock Anon cums instantly, shooting sperm onto the carpet as euphoria and agony crash against eachother.

Aww... does 'nonny want some more?
