Corpses are creepy and unpleasant to contemplate, yes. Can a mechanical similacrum be alive? Perhaps it can be programmed to simulate something real, but it will still be gears and circuit boards. Some people are very enthusiastic about this stuff but I perceive a danger that lonely people, unstable people, will furm one-sided emotional bonds with something that is not only not real, but also subject to the same software problems as anything else. I don't think anything about this can be good, not fur them as individuals, nor fur society.
This is all, of course, just my opinion. I could be wrong. I frequently am.
