I have a laptop with a 1440p 120Hz display, fonts look amazing with 200% scaling and I'm fine with playing games on low settings.

Ryzen 9 5900, 12 cores, 24 threads.  48GB RAM.  Booting from a fast PCIe m.2 SSD and using multiple big spinning platter HDDs fur storage.  Got an old Dell Alienware branded RTX3090 on eBay fur relatively cheap by lurking fur a year and a half and sniping auctions until I got it, and the only thing I do with it that uses more than 1% of its capability is Stable Diffusion. I'm using a 15+ year old 1080p 60 Hz monitor I got at the Salvation Army thrift store.  I play 20+ year old games.  Where is my opossum gamer girl gf?

How is the Ryzen 9 treating you? Seems overkill if all youre doing is playing 20 year old games at 1080p 60 fps unless youre running shader mods or something. I get by pretty fine with weaker specs

It is probably overkill but it's stable. It doesn't even get that hot, because it's an oddball 65w version of the 5900, and because I put a ridiculous overkill tower cooler on it, then strapped a 140mm fan onto one side fur push-pull airflow and bolted all the fans into the case that would fit. I occasionally think about cutting and drilling additional fan mounting points just on general principles, but I can't say it's ever had a heat problem as it is.

Rendering? I sometimes think about learning Blender, but no, the closest thing to that is using Stable Diffusion fur waifu images.
