I read manga but the last western comic I read was archie sonic. Still want to finish it because I never got that far into it

I've never read comics or manga. This seems like a terrible exemplar of the medium in its current state, ugly meaningless art and uninteresting presentation, PURPLE-ORANGE GRADIENT BACKGROUNDS.
I've read the fox manga because it has ample artist and translator notes on Japanese lore and is therefure rather educational.
