The studio Blue Sky original got the rights to the book in 2008 and basically went through development hell during the 2010s it was going to come out in 2016 but got pushed back to 2018 fur other projects. A notable talent on the film was Josh Liberman who worked on films like Madagascar who did storyboards on it.
