It probably sounds spooky when thinking of delicate electronics but is fairly mundane in other domestic applications. Chinesium wares often come with thin wires because they're cutting costs but their stuff mostly works and usually doesn't even combust.

The power is delivered over what, 6 wires, at 12V each? 6.25A isn't that bad. There are fast phone chargers that output like 5 and no one bats an eye. In fact, few people are even aware that regular power cables also tend to heat up under serious loads. 

If GPU manufacturers released these, they had done their tests and deemed them safe. As long as they are in one piece and are properly connected. 
Common points of failure are where the current has to pass through a bottleneck. 
Stickboy arms → fail to push the connector all the way in → low surface area → localized resistance increase → hot → plastic melts → wires cross and short → unlucky.

Samoans are very violent, very rapey, and, in the aggregate, if we are talking about averages and general tendencies, not the sharpest knives in the drawer. They do tend to be very physically fit and physically imposing.  Military acquaintances tell me that they can be excellent infantrymen, but you have to keep them away from booze and dope.
