I apologize to the user I banned for rule 3 1 day ago and deleted their thread on Christianity. I did it because I misjudged their intention as attempting to attack the community and our artists, it was not a personal ban. I take hostility very seriously, and I'm rightfully strict on it, but I should have been more transparent on what action is and is not allowed. I do not tolerate bad remarks such as 'pedo flag on hat' in our OC thread because it leaves a very sour taste in everyone mouth. But I also understand that I misjudged the situation and was too harsh, biased, and very not transparent. I did not explain well the reason for the ban and unfairly deleted their thread. So I want to apologize for that and I want to be more transparent in the future. 

If anyone has any problems or issues, they are free to reach me here in the sticky.

Posters here are generally assumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. For gray-area posts, multiple posts are required before making any judgement. Yes, actively pushing the rules and repeatedly making gray-area posts will get you banned, but that's the problem, it requires multiple posts to reach that judgement.

Maintaining a perfect _public_ posterbase is not possible. Rather, there is reliance on having people post what they like and avoid interacting with bad posts. You will find yourself happier if you interact with the 1 guy who cares about your topic rather than engaging with people derailing your discussion.
For bad posts, complain here. Judgement depends on the severity of the posts, and an action is not guaranteed for gray-area posts, but bringing awareness to the problem is at least a good first step to fixing the issues people may have.

...and yes, though I am not a janny or a mod, I understand why someone has to do the job. I usually focus on what's the best for people and practical solutions. Sometimes realizing when you should stop is best. The reason I started this is because I was inexperienced with web dev stuff, and trying to learn it while handling jschan was a pain. Starting from scratch gave me opportunity to take things slower.  But actually I made a good base, everything else from now on is just polish and nice to haves. My biggest pain right now is the basic stuff like configs and other crap, when trying to set this up I realized stuff was hard coded.

An hour from this post, I will be updating the software. Mostly minor change, but the most important being a upgrade to the trust system. Less work for mods and a better experience for new/existing users.

There is also a minor reword to the rules, the core meaning is the same, but just visual change to complement the mod side of things. When issuing a ban, you get auto complete in the reason section and also leave the duration as blank if permanent.

20 minutes from this post, I will deploy another important small update. I will continue do more maintenance, the next few updates will all be focused on the mod work flow. But I also have a few important updates planned for (You) the user: IDs will become optional per thread, flag alts (one flag can have multiple alt versions), and finally a rework to the account system.

After a couple of months it's obvious nobody cares about getting an account and building a le hekkin reputation score with da modz (it also adds friction for users). Accounts will now be only for moderation purposes, anyone is free to make one though.

For anyone curious about the nuchan: I had a mod talk sense into me too instead put priority on software that is already working and running (btw great advice bro, thanks), and work on nuchan on the side. That's why recently I went back working on jschan and improving things little by little.

I got rid of the captcha because I wasn't happy with the result. I believe a one-time-per-ip cloudflare screen is fair and non intrusive. It's really quick and also simple. Avoids any unnecessary drama of "should I fill or not fill the captcha" etc. and I also kept finding bugs.

I misconfiguration the database, and a log file grew to almost 300GB using up too much space and causing issues. Had to put the server down to clean that up and also prevent this in the future.

I honestly couldn't give you a reason myself. I started using this site because I saw a post fur the old draw everyday thread and decided to participate. It helped reignite my passion fur drawing and introduced me to new art friends. But I don't really pay attention to what goes on outside the art threads myself. I don't have any attachment to anthro stuff in particular, I just find drawing humans boring and this is where I ended up.

Fixed. Sorry, I was increasing limits as the draw-a-thon thread grew and the first limit was 300 replies and threads are bumplocked. The fogbs thread must have hit that before I upped it.
Personally I don't want threads to go beyond 350 replies because then it lags on my phone.
