I'm just using /adhg/ as an example. And it's the same reason why you're using this site instead of the one I can't name or FA or e6 forums. Whether it's the community or features, there are things that people like about certain websites more than others. 
What do you think a NSFW board would take away from this board or site? All the religious fags who would screech over it already moved to the other site, and this board will still exist for sfw discussion.

The insult was uncalled for, even if a30aab's initial comment on the matter can be interpreted somewhat abrasively.
It would possibly push away a sizeable portion of the userbase (including artists) because they are sensitive to it, for better or worse. I took advantage of the narrow window during which it was technically permissible to post exposed female nipples and that resulted in a minor controversy. It is clear many of the users here are not comfortable around such content and allowing said content would result in undesirable drama and an exodus at worst. Simply put: a significant portion of the userbase does not want such a change and would possibly leave were it implemented.
