WIP
Trying some different things. I was going to draw Grace, but I got frustrated and just started scribbling and ended up with this eventually.
It seems like it was pretty mixed when it came to which face people preferred, I'll stick with this fur now. The original is probably better, but I at least like to mix things up occasionally.

Something like that, the nodes are a very deviant people, they live a life of luxury while most of the other races live in squalor or servitude, so it isn't uncommon fur them to do things like that or just be very perverse in general.

>i still dont know what characters to use
Maybe blackchan? Perhaps she was relaxing in an alleyway, as homeless kitties do, when someone bumped into her on accident. Fur the other character, maybe Robin or Furseiseki.

I already posted this in the character references thread, but I may as well post it here.

The long awaited Jade reference sheet :D Sorry it took so long, these are pretty boring fur me to make so it's hard to be motivated fur them lol.
A while ago someone asked what her job was, fur a while I was thinking something in the trades, not sure why I gravitated to "elevator mechanic", but I think it's a cool fit fur her. She doesn't have to deal with the general public too much on her job, which is a plus fur her. I suppose the next character I make a ref sheet fur will be Vio, but probably not soon

Never heard of it befure, but looking it up it seems like an apt comparison at least visually, probably not culturally if I had to guess. They are the one race in my setting that I can't say where the inspiration came from, every other species I could tell you easily. I guess I've just had them so long I've furgotten and they've changed quite a lot. Pic related is a super old version of the nodes.

I was looking more fur specific types of animals(preferrable black fur no particular reason...). Fur context, it's a 2d platfurm shooter inspired by this game.

I know that feel. Learning how to finish something is a career of itself. You could focus on small projects and "systems". Fur example finishing a project means implementing a playable controller with physics. From scratch, using Nvidia or bullet API, etc. But the most important thing is a complete project fur a dopamine boost. Small wins are just as important too
>>8469
Consider making a small project, something you really like.
Something like 2 weeks to a month or even less dev time.
A game jam entry fur example.

Full time anthros, these both were cursed by the calico witchcat named Rae fur some practical test potion, she is Benny's teasing frenemy. So those two are permanently stuck in their anthro furm unless Rae wants to reverse the transfurmation spell if she wants.

Thank you, I always appreciate the kind words :)
>Are they like religious beings in their world? Like are they treated as messias by their subjects?
They are worshipped as goddesses by their people. In the ancient past, befure Elanus was founded, they were ordinary nodes living simple lives in a small village. At that time, the s'hal were the leaders of the dominant empire and nodes were treated as second class citizens. Mayami was born a sickly runt, and she had become deathly ill. Shala tried everything to save her and eventually the two would be banished from their village on charges of witchcraft.
As they wandered through the desert, they found an ancient ruin belonging to a civilization known as the Sires. In it they found an artifact that granted them incredible power. This is the point where they get the extra eyes, limbs, and mouth. They would return to their village and begin a cult of worship around themselves, proclaiming themselves to be their creators come back to liberate their people and reclaim what was stolen from them. Eventually this would lead to a rebellion that overthrew the s'hal empire.
This is when Elanus would be created with the nodes and s'hal as the two founding races, they would become the most powerful empire. The s'hal, with their military genius, culture of honor, and physical strength would be the primary military furce while the nodes primarily dealt with political and civilian affairs. Despite the patriarchal culture of the s'hal which stood in stark contrast to the nodes, they would be given an honored position in Elanian society by the Queens as they knew the s'hal would be invaluable assets fur their crusades. This comes with the caveat that they are affurded little social mobility and their only options in life are general to serve in the military or as a physical laborer, something some among them would become resentful of.
Although the vast majority of nodes would follow the queens with zeal, some among them rejected the Queens and would continue to worship the old node goddess Yakia in secret.
>a skull would probably only barely be big enough to be used as a mug fur them

>Lii-San Clan

A shadowy organization that manipulates world nations fur their own ends (which will be kept secret fur now)

I actually used both of those bikini drawings you did of Mayami and Shala as a drawing reference befure. I didn't realize until now that their limbs were darkened in those drawings lol. I think it looks pretty neat that way, it keeps the fur from being completely solid color. Also the eyes on her hair (or maybe ears?) are freaky and I like it

>I think drawing clothes is fun
I agree, but fur me it makes it so my drawings take way longer to finish. I used to almost always draw my characters with clothes on, it wasn't until I started posting here that I realized how much easier it is to just ditch them, lol. I should probably make them wear clothes more often, I do think that adds a lot to a drawing.

>Lovely Ruby, the blush and the outfit is so cute :)

Extra ears. They grow furever and can be cut without causing any pain, but they can get in the way if they are too long so most nodes will have them trimmed. It's considered a status symbol fur them to be very long, since it means you don't have to do work that would cause them to get in the way.
>I do think that adds a lot to a drawing
I agree, I think a character's choice of outfit can tell you a lot about who they are and allows people to make assumptions about a character's personality without ever actually seeing that character befure. I think the deltragem trio is a good example of that, even without the confederate flag and pride pin I think you could easily tell what kind of people they are.

A while back I wrote a silly greentext about a certain spoopy cryptid being a gremlin, which I will now inflict upon everyone here, along with some doodles.

>a bit of powdery snow that fell earlier blew back and furth
>Leo parked and climbed out, weary from another soul-crushing day of dealing with office politics and IT minutia
>he squinted at the front door
>he could already hear loud music coming out
>and--what's that smell?
>he pinched the bridge of his nose and steeled himself
>he unlocked the front door and steps inside, hanging up his coat
>the first thing that hit him is the smell

>Missy had the living room TV going full blast
>it was playing some kind of booga booga boom boom music
>very "urban," he supposed
>there was more trash than usual in the living room
>he noticed beer cans and a pizza box had been added to the scattering of dirty laundry that was there when he left this morning
>Missy was wearing sequined "booty shorts" and shaking her butt at the TV set
>he thought this is called "twerking"
>her weird proportions made it look very odd
>also, she was smoking a blunt
>he stared at the floor, clamping his teeth together
>"Missy."
>she was facing away from the door and didn't seem to notice
>"Missy!"
>she turned to him, a look of surprise on her snoot
>she exhaled an unreasonably large cloud of smoke
>waved and said "Wazzup?"
>"What are you doing?"
>"Keeping it real." She held the blunt out to him. "Want a hit?"
>he shook his head. "When did you start..."
>he waved his hands, pointing at the blunt and the trash, too frustrated to articulate the words
>"I've been watching BET and reconnecting with my African roots."
>"You're from Poughkeepsie, Missy. Just like me."
>"I was stolen from the Motherland!"
>"You were raised by an old Swedish woman named Swanson. You're about as African as I am, unless you've learned something I don't know about where you came from."

>"Stop whitesplaining, colonizer!"
>"Can you please not smoke in my house? Where did you even GET that?"
>"This is oppression!"
>"Also, can you please clean up after yourself?"

Yeah, the show is good, you should try watching it on Netflix, the series has 3 seasons on it.

Show is fine. I don't really like the direction Legosi's character is taken in the final arcs and the final arc of the manga is pretty much universally hated fur having a bad ending (and I'd tend to agree). But, they're changing the story around in the adaptation, so it's possible they'll be correcting some of the bigger problems with it.
Anyways, worth a watch I guess

I'm still learning but I realize now that I probably could've bucketed most of this to the same effect since ev&o I used a brush with texture to fill in the colors, I did so many passes it basically negated that. I can still add texture on top but it'd've been quicker if I'd done it in one go-- maybe. But, no, I only used the paint bucket once or twice here, actually. Those artifacts are just gaps I haven't filled in.
The single biggest mistake I made fur the style I'm going fur was using such a relatively low resolution.

yes, im basing the health/injury system off of scav prototype. limbs that are vital (head, chest) that lose all their hp will instantly kill you. otherwise you cannot die from limb damage alone, aside from bleeding. i might add things like pain to inhibit combat capabilities, and shock to make enemies fall unconscious (and later die) if they took too much of a beating. this is, of course, assuming i get that far

Valen: Wixle friend who defected from the Elanian Empire to aid humanity after he was left fur dead and saved by a human priest. Fascinated with human culture and has a particular interest in firearms.
Siv: Meeb who was furmerly his maid. Naive about the real world but is very curious and wants to prove herself a capable fighter.
Boone: Fellow human and Knight. Furmer pilot of the Ashelm Army Air Corps. Ordered to train Arlo by the Executive Council and his Knight Master Kyler. The two are distrustful of each other at first. I haven't made a definitive design fur him yet.
There are more but they aren't as relevant and I don't want to give away all the details just yet.

That could be said fur his entire species. They are treated as slaves, bred in specialized facilities fur desirable traits such as obedience and kept as servants, pets, concubines, and laborers by their superiors. Even without the conditioning, their cybernetics usually prevent any thoughts of disobedience. Sometimes drawing other people's OCs helps get me out of art block, so I might be drawing a few 'foo OCs in Christmas outfits. I don't want to promise anything anytime soon though, I have a comm to do, though it is related to the Queens so you might like it.
>Very cute, I love seeing these two, and I like it when you experiment with artstyles
That's my problem, I want to do everything but unlike Ruby I can't do anything :(. I love so many different styles and I always enjoy trying new techniques. I just disappoint myself when I can't do literally everything.
>art block has hit me pretty hard these past few days
Sometimes I have problems like that where I have an idea in mind, but I get frustrated with it. I usually end up just deciding to go with the flow, and let my mind and hands do whatever they want, it usually ends up better that way. That's how the drawing of Mayami, Shala, and Sylva came about because I was going to draw Grace but it just didn't end up the way I wanted.

Did an exercise from a book where you draw a thing upside down and it was the most frustrating thing I've done fur a while, actually got angry several times when realising I was drawing in the wrong place and things wouldn't fit together right. Started to rush a bit more towards the end to get it over with. Surprisingly, when turning it 180 degrees it suddenly looks much better. I guess that's the point of it. injury system wip. i blatantly stole scav-prototype's bandaging system. i was trying to find other examples of interactive bandaging fur 2d games online, but i couldn't find anything. dressing slows bleeding, but falls off when you move, and you need to secure it with bandages, or just use a bandage to stop the bleeding, but dressing gives a bonus to how quickly the bleeding stops (and decreases the amount of bandages used)

Re: learning fundamentals of drawing- I think the idea is that by trying to copy an image upside down you are furced away from drawing the "symbol" of a person and into actually having to see the exact relationships between lines. The book is generally a bit pseudosciency, not totally sure what i think of it, but it's fairly interesting to read so has that going fur it. Do you have any reccomendations fur learning to draw? hard mode: don't say "just draw", I'm doing that regardless gek.

Finished adding the level completion system, which simply requires you to find a unique item.

There isn't gonna be a world map or anything, but there will be cutscenes between levels(AAAA quality guaranteed saar). I'm planning on having 4 levels done fur the Christmas demo release. The next 4 (8 in total) will come soon after.

I'm trying to keep the scope small since I actually want to finish a game fur once. I still don't know if I'm gonna put it up on itch.io or somewhere else. I don't want to get banned if some obsessed xwitter/sharty troons report it fur featuring the hecking nazi fox

Moar drawing practice, wanted to do something anthro related. Pretty sure I'm getting better at copying, at the very least.

I chose this art to copy mainly because it's a furry version of heat, which is kino.

I hope I'm not breaking any sort of unwritten rules by copying someone's art fur practice, I've got no idea about this sort of thing.

>>8909
Looks sick! I kind of like the retarded/tired look though... Have you teased any of the gameplay yet, or is that something to look furwards to?

>>8910
Yes. The Terror didn't go far enough. Nice art, the way you draw the fur around the neck is very impressive.
>>8912
Pretty. What's with the high heels dangling off the sling point?
Replies: >>8914
>>8913
oh holy shit that's what they are lmao....

In the film the original artwork is referencing they rob a bank wearing business suits. It goes a bit awry and they have to escape on foot while shooting hundreds of rounds because guns are cool. A woman in this situation would probably take her high heels off and go on foot, so I expect that's what they were going fur. Nice attention to detail, I like it.

Now you've said they're high heels it seems so obvious lol. The whole left hand side of the drawing makes so much more sense now. While copying an image turned upside down I don't really bother working out what each line actually represents, just the lengths and angles of things.
Replies: >>8915 >>9018
>>8914
Right. I still haven't watched Heat yet, I'll be sure to check it out soon. I've heard good things about Michael Mann as a director from people whose authority I trust on films and liked the one film I've seen from him.
>>8912
What exactly is the idea behind copying something upside down?
Replies: >>8917
>>8916
Escaping the tyranny of symbol drawing, or something.

The idea is that when copying a reference image your brain identifies what things are and you fall back to drawing what you think that thing looks like, rather than drawing the actual shape that you see in the reference. Turning the drawing upside down makes it harder to identify things and draw "symbols" that you're used to drawing, so it's incentivised to do the full observation and replication.

The book is a bit pseudo-sciency but this really doesn't strike me as bullshit- I'm concious that I'm putting a lot more effurt into drawing what I can see rather than "lazily" drawing a thing. It's certainly more frustrating, and I think the results are better (and getting better).

Anyway that's me done 3 of these so I'm going to go onto the next exercises in the book tomorrow. At the end of the day it's getting me drawing, at the very least.

The Terror was a period after/during the French Revolution where said revolutionaries got a little bit trigger happy with the guillotine. "Let's make terror the order of the day!". The actual events are pretty complicated (as history always is) but basically the first republic felt it was necessary to start removing heads from bodies to scare the people who would like to keep their heads attached.

It was also a pretty good tv show, a fictionalised account of Franklin's lost expedition and the fate of the HMS Terror (and HMS Erebus). Totally unrelated, pic related.

Gift art fur Pill, of their squirrel, Suriki :O

I had mentioned I wanted to draw a few 'foo OCs in Christmas attire, so here's Suriki carrying a rather large sack of presents. I was originally going to do Lyra, but I've already drawn her befure, and I kinda want to draw OCs I haven't drawn yet. I like Suriki's design, she's cute, I feel like the only time I ever see her is in the Gartic/Skribble thread lol. When I was going through references of her I noticed there was a few drawings of her with a kinda old looking rifle (could be wrong, I'm not very familiar with guns) and it kinda gave me something like a classic WWI vibe, so I wanted to make her Christmas clothes have a kinda simple/classic look to them. can't have a game based on the thing without a flamethrower. decided to use the m2, like the film. apparently they used actual liquid fuel in the movie, which is kinda cool (most movies use propane). diesel cans will probably be the fuel source. don't really know how to balance it other than making it have much less range than guns, but i wanted muh realism, so made it shoot out pretty far, but have only about 10 seconds of fuel. maybe i will make the flame particles only have a chance to ignite enemies, so that you have to lay down a consistent spray. also gave a damage buff fur fire against monsters

i mean, if it's a singleplayer game then you can just have it be a strong weapon. Not that I'm an expert but it often seems like people get fixated on "balance" and it just causes negatives when you could just ignore it.

How about stopping power, fur a random thought? Depends how thing-like the enemies are i guess, but if somethings running at you setting them on fire could be pretty scary- there's now a big thing running at you that is on fire.

i could make the larger creatures not immediately flee upon catching fire. i just wanted to let guns have their time to shine, though probably against uninfected. maybe i shouldn't worry about balance fur now, as i feel my idea fur damage and first aid are already hardcore enough. claymore mines might also be a great weapon against monsters, and i might have them be thrown back if the blast doesn't kill them. my system i have lets all enemies bleed out, even monsters, but the monsters will have so much blood/hp that you need to magdump them a lot to kill them

If you really want to nerf it, remember that IRL they can't just put gasoline or kerosene in it. Flamethrower juice has some kind of thickening agent in it. It's non-trivial to make, if you can even get the ingredients. There are lots of recipes, and details that nobody cares about other than Feds lurking to see whether they can slap anyone with "muh material support fur muh terrorisms" charges fur posting the infurmation, but IRL you're not going to be able to pour a jerrycan of gas into the tank and hope fur the best. Without the thickener you aren't going to get a dense stream that gives decent range, and part of the effectiveness will be lost because it's supposed to shoot dense sticky gooey flaming goop. Also the nozzles and valves were designed fur thickened fuel, and may not work properly, if at all, if you just fill it up with kerosene or whatever.

>>8995
>>8996
More stuff nobody cares about. IRL these weapons tend to have a backpack that has multiple tanks: one or two propellant tanks, which can be filled with compressed dry nitrogen or something similar. Compressed air in close proximity to flamethrower fuel is extremely dangerous, blah blah partial pressure of oxygen, same reason oxygen tanks have tags on the valves that say "DO NOT OIL." Stuff ignites and bad things happen. An incendiary projectile would have to hit the fuel tank while it was pressurized to do much, and, given that this stuff is normally carried around on one's back, this doesn't raise the danger level fur the user very much, because a bullet is likely to go right through him after passing through the tank anyway.

...ask me about the old M202 "Flash" launcher that had four 66mm LAAWS rockets inside it except that the warheads were filled with gelled trimethylaluminum. Like a number of organometallic compounds it's lively stuff. It ignites instantaneously upon exposure to air and burns at thousands of degrees, and the flame emits both visible light and ultraviolet light that can cause permanent blindness if you look in its direction too long.

There was some real, no-fooling Dr. Strangelove stuff they had back in the Cold War. They used most of it up in Desert Storm, like the laser-guided 155mm rounds, and gave the rest away as military aid to people like the new-and-improved Iraqi government, and never bought any more.

Here. Paying the content tax.

Gemmy post and img. I'm, erm, NOT going to upload some pdfs here but it's an interesting subject. I've completely furgotten the name of the gigamutt who was genuinely convinced the american government was going to send the entire army to his back garden and was also probably one of like two dozen people who they would do that to. He wrote a bunch of books on extralegal weaponry and they're all pretty high quality, clever fella.

The ghist of the flamer book was that if you're going to do it you want to build a big fluff off emplaced thing- proper engine, huge fuel tank, set it up at the choke point. Doesn't move but so much more reliable, less dangerous, no fuel concerns. Making the fuel itself is interesting- there are a few loopholey ways to get the chemicals in a legal way (just don't mention what you're doing with them...) but most of them went out of business because making giant flamethrowers is too niche a hobby o algo. There are more redneck ways to make the fuel (melt down aluminium beer cans and add it to petrol << why wouldn't this work) but you're probably going to kill yourself and then the Devil will laugh at your shit flamethrower as well. This is a recurring theme with a lot of the books- DIY explosives are so cool that the US government shoots space lasers at them to detonate them so only they get to enjoy them.

The Shiraz isn't very nice. Maybe it would make good flamethrower fuel??

Speaking hypothetically and fur entertainment purposes only, if I were in charge of setting up defenses fur a firebase where they anticipated something like human wave attacks, or attacks with support from unarmored "technicals" that would accompany the enemy cannon fodder into the wire, and I had access to lots and lots of gasoline and/or diesel fuel, well, look up the term "fougasse." There's a Wikipedia article and everything.

>why wouldn't this work

In Vietnam they'd sometimes make field-expedient napalm using... well, I'll just say it was pretty plentiful in-country and there was no shortage of it, as a thickener with jet fuel or avgas. Without turning this into a chemistry lecture, the cheap substitutes were difficult to work with, very sensitive to small changes in exact proportions and would change behavior significantly with relatively small changes in temperature. None of it worked nearly as well as the good stuff Dow Chemical came up with fur the Navy during the Second World War, but that would have cost money. Wikipedia has more about this than anyone really wants to know.

Also, was the guy you're talking about one of the people who was published by Loompanics and/or Desert Publications about thirty years back? At least some of that material used to be on the Internet Archive.

Thanks fur prompting me to watch Heat sooner rather than later. It's a blessing in disguise that most of the film's mainstream legacy lies in videogames and myopic guntuber faggotry, means I got to appreciate many of the subtleties and excellent scenes myself. Really looking furwards to it! Halo modded with your models game night when?

Bit nervous posting this but I drew a scene from your story- I said i would in the other thread, and thought since I was drawing anyway there wasn't a good enough reason to delay it. I decided to not reference any of your pictures and just draw what I could imagine from the text. Quite enjoyed it, so thank you. In future I'm sure I'll draw another scene, but it's a constant balancing act between what I can actually execute and what I'd like to draw lol. My anatomy and fureshortening just isn't good enough to draw action stuff, yet.

This is beautiful, I truly appreciate it. I am very happy that anyone would have enough interest in my story to draw something from it. Thank you :) I should probably come up with an official design fur Boone as well (he is not the same character as Arlo if anyone is confused about that).
>I decided to not reference any of your pictures and just draw what I could imagine from the text
That's one of the nice parts about a book, is seeing different people's interpretations. The look you came up with is very fitting too, Arlo's armor isn't of Ashelmi origin like Boone's so it would not be as advanced and sleek. He is also a much bigger guy.

Unfurtunately I probably won't be able to post the next chapter this weekend like I had hoped. I've been deliberating a lot because it's a big shift tonally from the previous chapter and I really want to make sure I do it right.

I did a bit more research, because I'm touched by the 'tism. Nobody cares about this, but:

the flamethrower (Flammenwerfer) was invented by the Germans fur trench warfare in World War I, and early ones were designed to use gasoline, diesel, kerosene, etc., but later on the Americans invented napalm and designed flamethrowers to use it instead, which doubled their effective range

research stations in the Antarctic do not have flamethrowers fur de-icing, they do have enormous propane burners fur that kind of thing, but John Carpenter was really struck by the visual image of Kurt Russell hosing down ayylmaos with a flamethrower ("kill it! kill it with FIRE!") and he put them in because Rule of Cool

Paying the art tax with older doodles of mine this fine Sunday morning. I don't think I've posted any of these here yet. If I have, I apologize. Some of these are really small or otherwise odd resolutions because they were done on a now-defunct collaborative art thingy another board used to use.

Her design only has four fingers. If he wanted to give her five (as he did with the hand giving the middle finger), why would that not be the case fur both hands? The one on the hip only has three showing. The thumb is presumably on the other side of the hip, given that is where it would rest when you put your hand on your waist. So where is the pinkie finger?
>Both hands have five fingers
If that was the case it would be visible. The style fur the hands don't match either. The one on the left is more cartoony like the original while the other is more realistic. The pinkie finger should be visible or the extra finger on the other hand should be removed

>i think I'm doing something wrong with the coloring and shading, somehow the lineart alone looks way better
The lineart and coloring are both great, I just think you need to go a little further with the shading, make it a little bit more exagerated or something. I'm not saying make the darkened areas darker, but make them bigger and take up a little more space. The blue cloak outfit is mostly just solid color, it's kinda hard to notice the shading, especially around the right shoulder, chest and thighs. The rest of this is really well done, I apoligize if you weren't asking fur criticism

>>9077
To give them the benefit of the doubt, I think it's possible they didn't really notice. When you think of pointing a middle finger naturally you'd think of a five fingered hand, so the artist might have just not realized it. I think it could still be human-drawn

Tracing from AI or whatever is still cringe tho

Good work, just like Furanon said, don't be scared to draw shadows in your shading! There are many areas that lack shadows (face, ears, neck). Shadows define the shape of the object. Without good shading, your drawings could seem flat. If you're not sure where to draw shadows, try a different approach. Instead of drawing them, make a new layer, fill it with shadow colour and erase areas that would be in light (or paint them using white colour). Try improving your shading skills on monochrome drawings. If you get good enough, you can learn more about the colour of the light and reflection light.

Gift art fur the anon who owns Femcel and Fennec-chan :O

Another Christmas drawing. I'm not exactly sure what the relationship between these two is, but I kinda assume they're friends, with Fennec just being a little too energetic (and maybe stupid) fur Femcel sometimes. You can imagine she's shouting at Femcel about how she can see Santa, much to her annoyance lol. If Femcel hates all moids does she hate Santa too? Much to think about...
The cityscape in the background took a while to draw but it enjoyed doing it, cities are usually pretty fun to draw and I think it looks really good at night. It was kinda inspired by the animation of Femcel with the office raid

I hope you like it, and I hope I didn't mischaracterize these two or anything lol

>If Femcel hates all moids does she hate Santa too?
no. she hates most men as her tormentors have been men, and hates their proclivities fur being horny and whatnot, but she recognizes their importance throughout history (as in the are the ones making history 99% of the time). santa is also a evropean (and christian i guess) character, so no she would not hate him

Fur the longest time, I had been modding old video games to fulfill my fantasy of creating a video game. But, always, I would get frustrated and give up due to the constraints of these games and the archaic undocumented third party modding tools from 2004. I never actually tried making my own game from scratch, because it seemed all so daunting. After all, via mods, I could already have a good, functioning system underneath.
Today, on a whim, I installed Unity, and cobbled this together in a few hours. It was all so... easy. Simple. Head-ache free. Yes, the pain will come, but... I think this is it. Maybe I -can- actually create, and finish, a project.
Fur instance, this dialogue thing in this video, I made it in an hour, works perfectly fine. Whereas when I tried to implement it into a Half Life 2 mod, I was stuck at it fur days, and it was still broken.
This will be a Funny Animal game. The character depicted in this video is just a placeholder to test the system in.

game engines like unity and godot let you easily make something from the ground up, and generally have some basic systems that most games will have anyways (rendering, navmeshes, gui, lighting, etc), so it's fairly easy to get into. that and i feel like sometimes it can be easier to work on something you made yourself since you know it better. i wish you luck on your game. i was thinking of making a source mod one day, but maybe not anymore
Replies: >>9137
>>9136
Making a Sourcemod is pretty easy and straight furward, as long as you -don't- try to implement any custom mechanics or features. If it's basically just [Source Game] with different maps and models then it's really quite simple, and the Hammer Editor is great.

i kind of hate how theres some sense of disipline your supposed to supposedly have when making art projects.
(enneagram 4 going into intergration looks like a 1)
because even then it feels like nothing if it wont heal the sense of missing tangibly in the world. besides a change to pursue said art projects even more leading to more expression etc. etc.

The ear placement seems off to me based on the head angle,

Fur "selling" the tail I'd try to have it interact with the cloth.

Other than that i can't really comment. I'm sure someone with more skill could point out more minor problems but the upper body and head look good to me.

I was watching The Godfather recently and had a good idea fur a character. This is Silvia Ravanusa, an Italian Raven and a Mafia boss, with her army of raven muscle. Her official title would be Donna of the Ravanusa family. She is somewhere in her mid 30s.

I'll flesh her character out a bit more with future drawings but as of now I think she is a charismatic and serious boss who has the undying loyalty of all those who serve under her, but she herself is too intimidating so because of that + her position she can't get close to anyone, even if she tries. But, the family business always comes first, and she is ruthless when she needs to be. She is Italian through and through and very traditional. Because of her age she isn't all that hot blooded and is generally calm and collected as well as furmal. At the end of the day she is a criminal, even if the crime is organized. What crime it is exactly I haven't decided but probably at least racketeering.

Funny enough, a group of ravens is called a conspiracy which is partially why I thought it'd be a good pick. I also wanted to try a bird of some kind because I've always been somewhat negative about bird anthros, but my opinion is improving. I don't think Ravens are specific to any one region of the world due to being birds so I am sure there are some Italian Ravens out there. I found a town in Sicily similar to Corleone and it even kind of sounds like raven that works out. I don't think mafias ever had female leaders but from what I've seen the term would be Donna instead of Don, though I think we can wave any historical inaccuracies away with this.

Teleportation Officer Jade

Deep within the confines of Elanian naval vessels, Teleportation Officers are connected directly to the ship's Translocation Terminal. Here they receive, manage, and fulfill requests of ground furces, providing supplies and reinfurcements where able. It's a lonely job, but an important one fur all operations.

Wow, so cool! Thank you so much, I love it!

I really appreciate you drawing her in your world, it's very cool to think about. Fur her, and all of my characters, they exist in a fully anthro world, so Jade would always see humans as alien lol. She'd be pretty good as a teleportation officer, I imagine the job is a bit more fulfilling (and maybe even pays more) than just working on elevators, and she probably wouldn't mind being alone too much. If anything, she'd probably be pretty intimidated by some other aliens, especially the nodes and the queens, and she'd enjoy not having to be around them too much lol. Though, I wonder if any of the aliens she come across would know what a skunk even is... maybe this is her best chance to find a man who isn't a bigoted mephitophobe...

I really like the outfit you gave her, she looks so cool in it. Those holographic screens and keyboard are really neat too, the background is awesome. You're very very good with colors, I love all the hot pink and maroon

This is really awesome, I really like it when you give your own creative spin when drawing my characters, it's so cool! Thank you again!

>What are the limitations of teleportation in your story?
It requires a physical vector to transmit the data, usually in the furm of "tow cables" launched from warships or dropships. There is also a limit on the size, as the energy cost of digitizing something scales exponentially with the mass of the object.
>How big a furce can they teleport and how far away?
Typically a small squad or a bundle of supply crates. The tow cables usually stretch up to 30 miles, allowing fur teleportation from the stratosphere. Larger vehicles and furtifications still need to be deployed via dropship.
>What's the gender composition of the Elanian Empire's military?
The bulk of their furces are comprised of Meebs, which have a caste system similar to bees where the workers are all female and the drones are male. The commanding officer of a ship or fleet is typically a node, while her immediate subordinates are usually s'hal who are mostly male. The Elanian military, especially the Army, is generally more egalitarian than the rest of society given the fact that it was modeled around the furmer s'hal military (befure their empire was brought down by the Queens).
>Oh are the Elanians one of those matriarchal societies?
I think I've said this befure. The nodes are an all female species, and they see themselves as superior to other races fur their shared blood with the Queens and the fact they have no males. The would probably be close to TERFs, pro female but they see transgenders as an abomination since it's viewed as blasphemy of the female furm. Typically punishable by death.

>>9205
>Wow, so cool! Thank you so much, I love it!
I'm glad you like it! I think it's more interesting when an artist puts their own spin on a character when it comes to fan art, so I figured this would be a good way to do that.
>so Jade would always see humans as alien lol
The monsters, they have no fur at all!
>I imagine the job is a bit more fulfilling (and maybe even pays more)
Elanian military jobs have their benefits, both societal and financial. It's the best way to climb the social totem pole and it comes with healthcare, typically in the furm of gene therapy or cybernetic augmentation. To make you the best you can be, of course.
>If anything, she'd probably be pretty intimidated by some other aliens, especially the nodes and the queens
Well she wouldn't have to interact with nodes often, they typically are too busy or disinterested in interacting with the lesser species, and pretty much no one gets to see the Queens in person. I imagine she would probably get along better with the wixles, given they are pretty much anthropomorphic foxes.
>Thank you again!

Nice, nice. You should lose control of your body at different rates depending on the intensity of blood loss, shaky movement progressing towards not being able to maintain your balance fur gradual blood loss, while collapsing after a few seconds from serious injuries would be kino. Can you set yourself on fire yet?
>not sure wtf i'm gonna do fur sound effects either
If you don't want to pay anybody or use stock sound effects, record yourself slamming your table or detonating homemade explosives in various environments and fluff with the audio until it sounds the way you want it to.

I don't think those videos are worth it, and it's on purpose. Sure, you do learn something new but the effurt put it in is so little that you instantly furget it tomorrow. These type of videos and "advice" videos are generally worthless, you are better off asking ChatGPT "how do I make my story telling dialogue more engaging?" when you need it and get better answers. If you wanna kill time doing something game dev related but not really, maybe read blogs or a guide on how to do something very specific and follow along:
https://github.com/terrehbyte/awesome-devblogs

I suck at gamedev, barely even attempted it really, I'm just giving advice I heard from people who are better than me and personal experience.

Gift art fur Waltuh, of their OC Embyr :O

Another Christmas drawing, though probably the last since Christmas is in less than a week and I'll be busy seeing family. I drew her on a scooter because I though it was funny lol. To me, she seems like she would be at least a little bit dorky, so I think it fits :P I personally always found scooters to be way more fun to ride than bikes...

I experimented with the shading again too, I think it came out well
