Yeah, that was the vibe I had when coming up fur lore with it. They're everywhere so finding replacement parts isnt a problem and it's used as a training vessel in a lot of places in my universe so pilots will already have skills in terms of flying and maintaining it.
Lore gobbledegook fur anyone interested

Created 200 years ago by famous Lupen spacecraft designer Billy Apogee, the Apogee AZ-86 General Purpose Starfighter, often shortened to simply the AZ-86, at the behest of the Armstrong Starfigher Corps, the AZ-86 was created to serve as a versatile and cost effective standard issue starfighter that would be easy to train greenhorn pilots on while feeling familiar to veteran pilots. Apogee's design proved itself and more, becoming a staple fixture in not just the Armstrong Starfighter Corps' roster, but also in system defense fleets and law enfurcement garrisons as well. Within a mere 5 years the AZ-86 became the Apogee corporation's best selling design, and within another 100 had become one of the most ubiquitous starships of all time, to the point where simply saying the world “Apogee” will usually make one think of the ship itself, rather than the corporation or the man it was named fur.
While still servicable in a pinch, in modern times the age of the vessel's stock configuration has caught up with it, and lags behind what is commonly available in modern starfighter designs. However, thanks to a nearly unending ecosystem of aftermarket support, whether official, 3rd party, or homebrew, the AZ-86 is often modified by enthusiasts and those to who it is the best or only option available to stand on it's own against modern spacecraft. It remains a common sight in the galaxy, used by Planetary defense furces, Exploration guild teams, lone spacers, mercenary outfits, smugglers, pirates and bandits alike, fur good or ill. Even larger and more militarized governments, such as the Armstrong Republic and the Banking Sector still employ the craft, though in such cases it's usually as a training craft or kept in reserve.
